Named After Kingsbridge, Devon
A Piece, Not a Product
Most luxury vanity units in the UK are built with vinyl-wrapped MDF fronts or thin veneer panels glued to chipboard. They look the part for a year or two before the steam and splash do their work. The Kingsbridge is built differently. Real oak frame, real oak fronts, real oak even on the drawer boxes. The reeded texture is machined directly into the timber, not applied as separate moulding strips. The kind of piece that's still here when the bathroom around it has been redecorated twice.
If real oak throughout isn't essential to you, our painted ranges (Clifton, Chester) and oak-fronted Clifton offer the same Mockridge build quality at a different price point.
Seven Hand-Applied Stains
Each Kingsbridge is hand-stained in our Bristol workshop in one of seven tones: White, Natural, Smoke, Macchiato, Espresso, Dark Roast, and Chocolate. Oil-based stains applied by hand and sealed with a hardwax oil that bonds with the timber fibres, letting the oak breathe and patinate over time. We can custom-match an existing stain on enquiry.
Reeded Real Oak Drawer Fronts
The vertical reeded texture is machined directly into the real oak drawer panel, not applied as separate moulding strips. Tight, evenly spaced convex ridges run edge to edge across each drawer front, catching the light differently as the day moves. The defining design detail of the Kingsbridge profile.
Built for Undermount
The Kingsbridge is specified for undermount basins, so water stays inside the bowl rather than pooling against the oak. Engineered quartz worktops are the standard pairing, available as an upgrade in three finishes. Bespoke Calacatta marble worktops are available on request for the full heirloom presentation.
Beyond the Standard Range
Bespoke Kingsbridge
The standard Kingsbridge comes in two configurations: 1000mm single basin and 1900mm double basin. A focused range because real oak heirloom pieces don't suit being mass-customised. If you need a different width, a custom stain match to existing joinery, brass inlay, an integrated wireless charging tray, or a one-off design, we'll build it bespoke. Typical lead time on bespoke Kingsbridge pieces is 6 to 8 weeks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Three reasons. First, the Kingsbridge uses real European oak throughout the frame, fronts, and drawer boxes, rather than the cabinet-grade moisture-resistant materials and engineered cores used in our painted ranges. Second, the reeded drawer fronts are machined directly into real oak panels rather than applied as moulding strips, which takes significantly more workshop time. Third, the piece is built for undermount basins on engineered quartz, so the substrate and joinery are specified for daily contact with water rather than relying on a paint seal. The price difference reflects both the material cost and the workshop hours per piece.
Real oak across every part of the Kingsbridge that matters: the frame, the visible panels, the reeded drawer fronts, and the drawer boxes themselves. This is the differentiator. Other oak vanities (including our oak Clifton) put oak on the externals while using a Blum drawer box. The Kingsbridge takes oak through to the drawer construction. Where engineered cores are used in hidden structural roles, they're faced in real oak veneer, not vinyl wrap or printed laminate. The piece you see, touch, and open is oak, not a wood-effect imitation.
The oak Clifton has real oak drawer fronts and panels with Blum soft-close drawer boxes as standard, plus an optional dovetailed solid oak drawer box upgrade. The Kingsbridge has real oak across the frame, fronts, and drawer boxes as standard, with the reeded texture machined into solid oak panels rather than applied as moulding. The Kingsbridge is also specified for undermount basins on quartz, where the oak Clifton can be ordered for either sit-on or undermount. The oak Clifton is the right choice if you want oak appearance with our standard build. The Kingsbridge is the right choice if you want our heirloom build.
Sit-on basins create a rim where water can pool against the worktop edge, which is fine on painted units (the paint is sealed) but not ideal on real oak that we want to develop a patina without water damage. Undermount basins keep splash inside the basin and let the quartz worktop carry the water away from the oak completely. A Kingsbridge with sit-on is technically buildable as a bespoke order, but we'd actively try to talk you out of it.
Seven hand-applied oil-based stains: White (palest, near-blonde), Natural (oak's own colour, slightly enhanced), Smoke (cool grey-brown), Macchiato (medium warm tan), Espresso (deep mid-brown), Dark Roast (near-black walnut tone), and Chocolate (deepest, almost ebony). Each is applied by hand and then sealed with a hardwax oil that bonds with the timber fibres, creating a fully protected, breathable finish that lets the oak develop patina over time. We can also custom-match an existing stain or timber piece in your home, subject to a sample approval step.
Built right and maintained reasonably, a real oak piece will outlast its first owner. The oak we use is the same European oak found in heirloom dining tables and free-standing wardrobes that survive five generations in family homes. The only consumable parts are the Blum runners (lifetime guaranteed by Blum, replaceable in any case) and the basin seal. The timber can be sanded back and re-stained twice in its lifetime, which veneered units cannot. We don't put a year number on it because the honest answer is "longer than the bathroom around it."
The standard Kingsbridge range is two pieces: a 1000mm single basin vanity and a 1900mm double basin vanity. Both are floor-standing and specified for undermount basins. The focused range reflects the workshop time involved in real oak construction. Bespoke sizes are available for non-standard widths or depths, with a typical 6 to 8 week lead time (compared to 4 to 6 weeks for the standard range).
Engineered quartz is the standard pairing for the Kingsbridge, available as an upgrade in three finishes: Pure White, Carrara Cashmere, and Calacatta Gold. Bespoke Calacatta marble worktops are available on request for those wanting natural stone. Worktops are pre-cut to the exact dimensions of your unit, basin cutout pre-formed, polished, and dispatched separately ready to install on site. You can also order the Kingsbridge without a worktop if you're sourcing your own stone.
Yes, and we'd strongly recommend it. Photographs flatten the difference between oak stains in ways that surprise people, especially the middle range (Smoke / Macchiato / Espresso) where the variation lives. We can post real oak swatch sets — same timber, same stain process — within 48 working hours of your request. Request a Kingsbridge sample set →
The Kingsbridge starts from £3,245 for the 1000mm single basin vanity and £4,995 for the 1900mm double basin vanity. Engineered quartz worktops are available as an upgrade in three finishes. Bespoke marble worktops are priced on request. Undermount basins are sourced separately. All prices include VAT and standard delivery to mainland UK. Bespoke pieces are quoted individually.
Yes. Every Kingsbridge is designed, built, finished, and assembled in our Bristol workshop. The European oak is sourced from sustainable European forestry, primarily France and Germany. The reeded drawer fronts are machined from real oak panels in-house. The piece is sanded, hand-stained, and sealed before it ships. Nothing is imported pre-built or assembled overseas.
